The Scientist, Microbiology will be responsible for the development and implementation of in vitro assay systems, as well as contribute in our efforts to isolate additional strains as part of our growing microbiome strain library. The role will report to the Principal Scientist, Microbiology.
Some responsibilities include, but are not limited to: development and implementation of in vitro assay systems to characterize and quantify specific phenotypic features of new and existing bacterial strains within our strain library. Create detailed standard operating procedure (SOP) documentation for each assay system. Create and maintain an appropriate and detailed data management system for results generated. Isolation of bacterial strains from biological samples. Work closely with other Microbiome R&D team members to integrate process development and facilitate data-sharing. Present results in visual, oral, and written forms to internal and external stakeholders.
Candidate must be able to work in a team environment. Good organizational skills and maintenance of good laboratory practices is key. Ability to lead and mentor a small team is expected.
Candidate must maintain knowledge of both current microbiology techniques and any associated technological advancements.
